Australian-made My NooK Play Sofa Celebrates Good Design Award Gold Accolade
The announcement that the family-run, Australian-made My Nook Play Sofa is the proud winner of the prestigious Gold Accolade in the Product Design category of the 2021 Australian Good Design Awards is a significant achievement that deserves celebration.
The award win represents well-deserved recognition by a jury of product design & innovation specialists, which saw the innovative My Nook Play Sofa stand out amongst a record number of 933 high-calibre submissions.
This award win - announced as part of the 2021 Good Design Awards Week (October 11-15) celebrations - tops off an incredibly successful 2021 for the family-run My NooK Play Sofa brand team and the judge’s comments are a powerful reminder of what makes this stylish, world-leading product so unique.
The Good Design Awards Jury commented: “This is an original and wonderful piece of children's furniture, with endless possibilities for play and imagination. It's the ultimate cubby! The playful design looks like fun, and the customer reviews point to the high-quality of My NooK. The product is simple and intuitive, well-made and showcases a great colour palette. It's a brilliant product for kids and parents alike. Well done.”
With its unique Zip-Together-Zip-Apart versatility, My NooK is the original Australian-made modular play sofa - for kids who dream BIG! The success of the quality My NooK product range of play sofas (and extra cushion pieces for ‘let’s’ build something!’ fun) is one of the positive pandemic-related business stories - a good news story that is very proudly Australian.
During COVID lockdown, Sydney-based mum & dad design team, Olivia and Patrick Rudomino, drew on inspiration - and practical play ideas - from their three, active, busy children to launch the My NooK range in September, 2020. It’s space-smart, stylish furniture that offers child-size fun with versatile comfort and durability and, because it’s 100 per cent Australian-made, it’s quality you can trust, that supports local manufacturing and employment opportunities. “We wanted to create a beautiful piece of furniture that our children could have fun with while also offering the versatility to fulfil the needs of our busy family - and this is where NooK was born.”
The My NooK modular play sofa is the only play sofa in the world with Zip-Together-Zip-Apart functionality. It’s a unique, easy-to-use touch that helps turn seat space into sleep space...or play space - and back again. Only My NooK Australian-made play sofas spread out to create a comfy sleep surface that’s even larger than a double bed - the ideal way to transition from adventurous, day-dreamy play, to cosy, cuddly movie nights, or sleepover solutions.
My NooK is where tactile comfort meets cool ideas and with 14 original fabric choices, as well as eight luxurious velvets and 8 newly released Outdoor options, this is children’s furniture that doesn’t merely take up space - it complements it. With 10 individual pieces and Zip-together-Zip-Apart base cushions, building a fort, castle, racing car, obstacle course, sleepover bed - or anything you imagine - is easy. And because it’s also easy-to-clean (in a cold water machine wash), it’s fun for all the family!
All My NooK play sofa covers are double-stitched, including top stitch for extra durability - and with almost 10,000 stitches, 10 metres of commercial-grade fabric and 12 metres of top-quality zips ensuring the long-lasting quality of each and every My NooK play sofa, it’s practical, play-focused design that’s made to last. For added strength, comfort and support, four unique foam grades across the My NooK and Extra accessories range, offer the premium quality pleasure of a luxury item in a kid-friendly product that adds stylish fun to any home decor.
My NooK modular Australian-made play sofas are soft, safe and ecologically-sound, with a commitment to Australian-made foam that is manufactured to the strictest environmental standards, sourced from a zero waste factory. Currently, the My NooK colour range includes 30 beautiful fabric choices, including eight velvets and eight outdoor fabrics, for the freedom to coordinate a truly individual interior look - supported with fast, friendly, five-star customer service to deliver it on time.
