OUR STORY

Like many families, the first days of the COVID lockdowns completely changed the rhythm of our home. The activities stopped, the calendar cleared, and suddenly we were all spending far more time together within the same four walls.

What emerged from that madness was something unexpected and (looking back) was really special!

Our children began transforming the house around them. Couch cushions became cubbies, blankets became caves, dining chairs became racing cars and space stations. Every corner of our home was reimagined through play, creativity, and connection.

We loved the imagination and freedom of it all — but we also found ourselves searching for a better solution. We wanted furniture that could support open-ended play without taking over our home. Something versatile, calming, and beautiful enough to belong in our living space too.

When we couldn’t find it, we decided to create it ourselves.

And so, NooK was born.

Australian-Made Modular Play Furniture for Real Family Homes

The Original Australian modular play couch, NooK combines the versatility of a modular play sofa with the comfort of everyday family furniture. Designed to bring together imaginative play, relaxation, and practical living, NooK creates space for children to build, move, rest, read, and play freely within the home.

What began as a just an idea has since evolved into a thoughtfully designed collection of soft play furniture and modular family furniture made for modern homes, playrooms, therapy spaces, classrooms, and reading corners.

We believe children don’t need more overstimulating toys or cluttered spaces. They need room to move, create, imagine, and unwind. NooK was designed to support slower, more intentional family living through open-ended play and versatile furniture that adapts alongside childhood.

What started as a solution for our own family has now found its way into thousands of homes around Australia and beyond. From our family to yours, thank you for being here and for making NooK part of your story too.

AWARD WINNING DESIGN

Our Australian-made My Nook Play Sofa is the proud winner of the prestigious Gold Accolade in the Product Design category of the 2021 Australian Good Design Awards. It’s a significant achievement for a young, family-run business and we’re so proud to have received this honour.

The award win represents well-deserved recognition by a jury of product design & innovation specialists, which saw the innovative My Nook Play Sofa stand out amongst a record number of 933 high-calibre submissions.

The Good Design Awards Jury commented:

“This is an original and wonderful piece of children's furniture, with endless possibilities for play and imagination. It's the ultimate cubby!
